i-61 Community

The i-61 Community is a group of people who are seeking to embody the mercy and justice of Jesus Christ in practical ways.

Join us

At the beginning of His ministry, Jesus read and declared that His mission was the fulfillment of the words of the prophet Isaiah,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.”

As we follow Jesus and surrender to His lordship in our lives, we also want to partner with Him in proclaiming and bringing the Kingdom of Heaven. The I-61 Community has been created as a natural next step as Vineyard Gilbert has been expanding and growing our Loving Native America community, as well as other ways that the Vineyard has been intentional in pursuing bringing reconciliation, care, healing, and restoration (in the way of Jesus) in practical ways.

Gathering Bi-Monthly

We gather in person every other Sunday night at 5 pm for dinner, and focused study and conversation on practical ways to embody mercy and justice as families, a community, and a church.

We rotate between two locations:
  • The Eaton home in Mesa (near Baseline and Country Club)
  • The Bidderman home in Gilbert (near Picos and Higley

*We have childcare!

Upcoming Dates: September 25; October 9, 23; November 6, 20; & December 11

Community Focus

As we gather we examine how we view poverty and ways to shift and grow our mindset when it comes to considering various aspects of world crises.

Fall 2022: This fall, we'll be focusing our conversation with the study When Helping Hurts. When Helping Hurts offers a different framework for thinking about poverty and its alleviation. Rather than simply defining it as a lack of material things, the book addresses the roots of the issue: broken relationships with God, self, others, and the rest of creation.
Leaders: Joel Bidderman, Charissa Ferguson, and Allen & Vicki Eaton
