Many in our community utilize the Lectio 365 app, and this app is what we use as the lectionary for our prayer times. At the beginning of each morning prayer time the leader reads the Psalm from the reading for the day, and at the end of the call you’ll usually hear the leader pray the Lectio 365 closing prayer in corporate language, which goes:
“Father, help us to live this day to the full, being true to you in every way.
Jesus, help us to give ourselves away to others, being kind to everyone we meet.
Spirit, help us to love the Lost (those who You miss the most), that we might proclaim Christ in all we do and say. Amen”
As we pray, silence is common, and it is intentional. Why? Because, as we pray and intercede, our desire is to partner with God’s heart, and that means listening for Him and His voice. We are paying attention to the things that come to our minds and hearts so that we can pray for those things together.
We are blessed to have technology that enables us to connect regularly - even from different countries. However, to make this possible (especially within our timeframe of these calls), here are a few guidelines that we ask are followed.
- If possible, when not talking, please mute your mic. This helps to minimize distractions and interruptions. If disruption comes from your screen (for example, noises or conversations in the background), the call leader may mute your mic if it is unmuted.
- Leave room for others. It is important to be mindful to not dominate the time with stories and commentary - since this time is primarily to pray as a group. If this seems to happen, the leader may interject and redirect the focus of the call.
